Above is the link to our Map. This map shows a map of farmers markets around Kalamazoo. This map can be used for students to discover fresh and local ingredients. It gives them a chance to have locations where they kind find ingredients and ingredients that are fresh and accessible to them.
Hey guys I will be doing my research on the resources needed to boil and freeze water. Week 5 Did anyone else's blog just completely change for some reason? a lot of the comments are gone and it's confusing where to post now
Im a little confused? This lesson we have to do this? Are we deciding our topic is about foods and their chemical reactions or about foods from other countries and learning about them? Im just confused what we ended up deciding.
Yeah, a lot of comments are gone from mine too. also, she explained that out project has to reflect culture and communicating with another group of students. So for our penpal assignment, the brunt of our project is learning about different foods from other countries, right? A similar assignment that we created for our "students and their penpals from Ireland." That's what I thought at least.
this is such a confusing week. and Taskstream makes no sense. I thought we had to do it on our concept map? I couldn't even tell you where to start. I emailed her, but she hasn't gotten back to me.
Oh no it's a concept within our projects.. ok. so yeah I think Sophia you talking about where to get resources is a good one maybe! so talking to other children in Ireland like Ashley said is a good one, maybe also the science behind cooking, and different topics like that?
Okay I was thinking about "taking students to a farm, where there are apple trees, peach trees, grape vines and things like that and putting them into groups of each fruit and they investigate there how their fruit grows and stuff like that, then they can go back and do other research on their computers. So I think that's what I'm doing. would that work?
Well I was doing mine on where to get ingredients from but since now you are doing that I don't think we both can. So I guess ill do mine on the effects heating and cooling have on foods? and then talking about different cooking terms.
Well I turned mine in and did the difference between a fruit and vegetable so it would be a bit more of a difference from yours Sophia. I had no idea how to navigate through the website or anything. So I feel like it was not helpful and just stressful haha
So for the next two weeks we need to make the podcast about our project. We each need to come up with something to talk about for 3-5 minutes. Her examples are: why we use project-based learning, what we have done with the project, and what we are going to do with the project. I'm okay with doing thee three topics and personally I would like to talk about why we are doing the project-based learning.
I have not used Audacity before. I don't care which of the other two parts I have We should do a basic outline before constructing the podcast. Project base and why we are using it is pretty easy. Just what it is and how it relates to our class. What we have done is making the blogs, creating the concept maps, and virtual pen pals... is that it? does anyone have any ideas where we are going?
Where we are going: The intent of the lesson and concept map. What is our goal? What do we want to teach using cooking and the lessons we made? How using project based learning will aid the classroom.
Have done: intent of the lesson we have done-purpose.
Okay I can do the "what is our goal" I will just describe that we want to teach our students science by using methods of cooking. For instance I will add in the science of boiling water and how it pertains to cooking and science, with the heating and rising of bubbles.
hey ladies, don't forget to add more material to the concept map. Also, someone else has to add it to the blog per the instructions. let me know if you need any help.
hey guys I'm about to go to bed, because I have work tomorrow. I tried for a while to get the map up as a picture but only could copy the link. If someone else could do it and just say it didn't work for me. There is really nothing we can do about that.
Can you guys find the app? I have an android, so I think maybe it's on the iPhones only.... I looked round for a while and didn't see the correct app on my phone.
Okay, I found that it is on iPhones, but not other smartphones... so maybe I can borrow someones iPhone? I don't know, not a good project if research hasn't been done to make sure to reach out to every student. This is kind of a setback for me.

yes! I was wondering the same thing... very confused
ReplyDeleteI will be doing my research on how to find sources for food items. For example going to the grocery store or to a farmers market or a garden.

But does any one know how to use Taskstream to create this? Because I've been looking at it the past two days and still none of it makes sense.

ReplyDeleteNo I'm doing mine on kind of like the life cycle of a fruit and the characteristics.
ReplyDeleteI think you can still do the ingredients from farmers markets and stuff

then go to project base learning as a whole and how it will help in the classroom
DeleteI like it!
DeleteHave you done your part yet? I am having trouble with the website. Where is the LAME file we need?
DeleteOkay I did the "what we have done" part... and I finished. Who should I send it to or do you guys want me to do it?
ReplyDeleteI also found some music we can add in
DeleteI finished my part as well about the project based learning.
ReplyDeleteI put it in the dropbox. We are done with that part!
ReplyDeletehey ladies, don't forget to add more material to the concept map. Also, someone else has to add it to the blog per the instructions. let me know if you need any help.
ReplyDeleteHey, my comments must have got deleted? but I don't know how to get back to the concept map.
ReplyDeleteAlso which lesson are you guys doing?
ReplyDeleteI added a whole culture tab off of the concept map. Im about to publish it again
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to post the map...
ReplyDeletesave the map as an image then add it to the blog as a new post
ReplyDeleteI don't fully remember how i did it. I do know it took like thirty minutes to figure it out
ReplyDeleteI tried. The blog will only allow me to do comments in words.
ReplyDeleteWeird, but do you have snapchat, you could send me a video on how to do it haha
